9.17.10.3223 was installed here after the 8.1 update on my Lenovo laptop ... the version for HD3000 Sandy Bridge 2nd generation cpu/chipset.

But first I did update the chipset drivers to the most current version. I'm a believer in always updating the chipset before anything else from a bummer past experience. Seems like intel has update version of chipset drivers about once per month lately.

Hi,
I have a Sony VAIO S series laptop, with Intel HD 3000 graphics running Windows 8.1. I have a persistent, and really annoying, issue with the brightness control. All too often, the brightness control stops working. I HAD to disable automatic brightness control altogether.
With Windows 8, I had absolutely no issues. My driver is up-to-date.
When can we expect a fix? The issue is really annoying.
Thanks,
Suvam.

The driver update for the Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 fails to install on my series 9 Samsung laptop. Samsung are saying:

'At the moment there is limited support for this operating system, when
drivers become available and Micorsoft address some of the bugs it will
become easier to rectify these issues.'

Any words from Microsoft or Intel on this?

OK. I managed to fix my issue of brightness control not working. Others having similar issues might try this, though the second step is relevant only to VAIOs.
1. Get the latest driver for Intel HD 3000 from the Intel website. Here's the site:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DownloadType=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09Drivers%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09&OSFullname=Windows+8.1%2c+64-bit*&DwnldID=23377
This pertains only to 64bit computers running Windows 7/8/8.1. 32bit users might need to do a bit more digging around.
2. If you are having 'brightness control not working' issue on a VAIO, go to C:Program FilesSonyVAIO CareESRV.
Here, you will find a dll called sony_acpi_battery_input
Cut and paste it somewhere else (say, the desktop). Then restart your computer.
These two steps completely resolved my issue.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Suvam.

I've got another issue: BSOD, when I simply try to install this driver.

If I don't install it works nice and neat.

Intel Driver Download Windows 8

Thanks for your feedback.

I was made to perform a Windows update on my laptop on Feb. 2 and my display driver began to crash when running a program or even booting up. Both my Display driver and my graphics drivers are up to date.
I have Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo Y570 with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and NVidia GeForce 550
I was forced to do a System Restore and results showed that Google Chrome and Intel Display was affected in the update.
I have Windows update off to prevent from updating.
Was there any fix for this issue since then?

Hi there ... hope someone can help. External Monitor indicates 'no signal' after automatic Windows 'update' a week ago. I think the update affected Intel graphics HD 3000 Driver. Could be that this Driver is incompatible with Lenovo X1 1291 CTO. Any advice? I've tried numrous Intel and Lenovo Drivers: they either don't solve the Problem or tell me my Computer does not meet the Minimum requirements.

Could it be I need to instead get a hold of the right Microsoft Basic Display Driver? I found on .zip file that looked good, but don't know how to instal the extracted 'Cabinet' file.

Any and all ideas welcome!

Having this same issue on Win 10 machine and was told by Microsoft tech support rep to roll back to Windows 7 since the driver is not supported. The strange thing is that It worked with Windows 10 initially, then stopped working. I did an SFC scan and it worked again until rebooting. It displays in Safe Mode and also with the Microsoft Basic Driver, but when I put the original driver back it does not display on the laptop only through the VGA port to an external monitor. Dell says they do not offer Win 10 support, but this is an Intel driver. I hope Intel has a solution, because rolling back to Windows 7 is a tedious process requiring reinstalling software and apps, which I feel is a terrible use of time if this could simple be solved by changing drivers.
